Difference between average and high performing feedback memos
Consultants often get generic feedback. But they don't know why it happens. Often, they don't even know what great memo looks like. That is why I compare average and high-performing memos.
Have you ever compared your McKinsey feedback memo to a high-performing one? There are some striking differences.
First, you will notice that the high-performing one is more extensive and elaborate. It has more substance, especially in the Strengths section.
Second, the high-performing memo has lots of specifics, examples, and even quotes from partners. In contrast, the average one is quite generic and not very actionable.
And finally, the most important difference is tone.
In a high-performing one, the tone is more enthusiastic and full of praise. When you read it, you get excited about this person without even knowing them.
Why is it important?
Consultants often don't realize how big the difference is between average and high-performing memos.
Once they see it, they understand how much more support they need to gain from partners. It can serve as a powerful wake-up call or a catalyst to achieve high performance.
But where do you get access to a high-performing memo? Other consultants won't share that with you easily.
Let me help you with that.
