Imagine you must create a slide deck
Creating great documents is an essential skill for successful consultants. But many consultants struggle with this skill. Let's learn one neat technique to help you with this skill.
Imagine you must create a slide deck.
Start with a storyboard.
It's a simple but powerful technique.
Like scriptwriters outline their stories using storyboards.
Divide a piece of paper into eight squares (see in the attached picture).
Each square represents one slide.
Now, you have a bird's-eye view of your storyline.
You can sketch a few versions of storyboards, making sure they make perfect logical sense and flow in terms of storytelling.
Then, you can refine it and discuss it with your ledership.

I used this draft to outline the introductory lesson of my coaching program for MBB consultants.
I like to mark killer slides with a star. ★
Then, I prioritize these slides and start sketching more detailed versions. These slides I always produce myself. I don’t delegate them to Visual Services.
Even if partners suddenly ask me about progress, I have these killer slides ready for discussion at any time.
These techniques help to create clarity and accelerate the document-creating process. This becomes especially important when you need to create the document in a very short period of time.

The consulting journey is complex and treacherous.
Walking it alone is extremely difficult. It’s helpful to have the support of someone who has experienced this journey and helped many others.
That is why I developed a coaching program for MBB consultants, which helps them achieve high performance and success.
If you are an MBB consultant and sick of struggling with performance and development, I would like to speak with you.
Book a Free 1-1 Consultation to discuss whether I can help you through my coaching program. There is no commitment, and you can ask any burning questions in a risk-free environment.

Thinking through the flow and the story you need to tell before you start on the slides themselves is a worthwhile exercise. I like the storyboard idea. I've always just done a bulleted outline.
